Graduation ceremonies and celebrations took place today at Milligan Academy and Futures Unlimited and pictures will follow. However, we didn't want to end the year without recognizing Jimmy Washington. Mr. Washington is the first person students see when they walk into our building, and his office is a safe haven for many. The safety of our students and staff is Mr. Washington's top priority, but he does so much more as a mentor and guide. He is selfless, caring, and dedicated to our students, supporting them through the many obstacles they have had to overcome to make it to the graduation stage. Mr. Washington, we thank you for always showing up for our students and appreciate everything you do! (Pictured left to right: Brian Plummer, Jill Reedy, Jimmy Washington, Crystal Whetstone)

Congratulations to the Decatur Rotary Club's Educator of the Month, Pat Schroeder! Mrs. Schroeder was nominated by Dr. Jonathan Field, Principal of Sangamon Valley High School. Mrs. Schroeder marks her 50th year in the district and is still excited about coming to work each day. She teaches AP Physics and Chemistry, and students often return to say they used Mrs. Schroeder's notes to get them through their college classes. Her leadership, dedication, and relationships with students make her a model educator and an integral part of the Sangamon Valley team. Congratulations, Mrs. Schroeder, to 50 years and counting!
