HOW TO LOCATE YOUR TEACHER AIDE/PARAPROFESSIONAL APPROVAL
Are you uncertain of the type of approval that you hold? You’ve heard that there are mandated state changes that might affect your teacher assistant position? Follow these steps to find your current approval.
1. Open: www.isbe.net/ECS
2. Select: EDUCATOR ACCESS.
3. Find DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR: Look Up Staff Here:
a. Enter YOUR IEIN OR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER
b. Enter YOUR LAST NAME
4. Select: CURRENT CREDENTIALS.
5. Locate: APPROVALS.If you see the following statement you are already a PARAPROFESSIONAL: TASN: State and NCLB approved paraprofessional
The above statement signifies that you are a highly qualified paraprofessional and your approval will be “exchanged” to the Educator License with Stipulations once the licensure process begins. When that will occur is presently unknown; however, the Illinois State Board of Education must begin the process no later than July 1, 2013.
If your record does not have the above statement you should immediately apply for the Paraprofessional approval. Below is a link to the application form and the document requirements.
