For those of you who might be interested in becoming a bus driver, please contact the school district for whom you wish to drive for and they will direct you to the company that you would work for. They will then reserve a spot in an initial training class. If you have further questions, please contact the Regional Office of Education 217.872.3721 ext. 101 and speak to Linda Smith.
New drivers must have this initial training course, complete an application, have behind the wheel training, have a physical examination by a medical doctor, alcohol/drug testing and fingerprinting. All of these requirements must be completed before you can obtain the School Bus Driver Permit. Individuals wanting to drive a school bus should confer with their prospective employer regarding the paperwork and requirements necessary to get an Illinois School Bus Driver Permit.
2013 Refresher & Initial Bus Driver Training Schedule
This is the completed refresher-training schedule for this year. There should be an adequate amount of classes so that each driver can complete the requirement for annual training in plenty of time before their bus permit renewal date. PLEASE NOTE: We've have been asked by the instructors to inform the drivers that YOU MUST BE ON TIME!
